Welcome to the BHS Orchestras. We're enjoying the 2012-2013 school year with expectations for great music-making and success in improving technical skills as we explore aspects of string playing from Bach to rock!

Class Description:
Chamber Orchestra meets during first period in the band room. Interested students must audition to be accepted into this group. Advanced techniques and challenging repertoire of traditional and modern styles are explored. Students may audition in the spring for the following school year.
Concert Orchestra meets during second period in the choir room. This group is for everyone who enjoys playing violin, viola, cello or bass and does not require an audition to become a member. Focus is given to developing skills while learning traditional string orchestra classics in addition to lighter pop selections.
Five main orchestra concerts are held in which each group presents its own works and several pieces are performed by the full combined orchestras. In addition, there is the High School Orchestra Festival, the All-State Orchestra Festival, and the WDA and State Solo and Ensemble Festivals which are NDHSAA activities. Before WDA, participating students will have the opportunity to perform in recital.
